Promise Rings

The promise ring is not an unknown piece of jewel these days. Usually, a promise ring is given as an outward and physical expression of a promise that is made between two people. This ring is usually worn on the ring finger of the left hand. Promise rings are generally given for any promise or commitments made, not necessarily leading to matrimonial commitments.

Promise rings are presented on several occasions. The most common is the pre-engagement promise ring that is given when two individuals have decided to become engaged and to marry in the future. In the course of time, this ring is replaced by the engagement and then the marriage ring.

Of course, two friends also exchange promise rings to prove that the relationship between them doesn’t relate to any romantic affair. Religious promise rings also deserve a mention in the world of promise rings. These rings are usually worn by a group of followers of a particular saint or religion. The meaning of this ring lies in a commitment to follow the teachings and beliefs of the religion in daily life.

Depending upon the budget and the situation, different types of promise rings are available. There are diamond promise rings, gold promise rings, titanium promise rings, silver promise rings and white gold promise rings. Those who have a small budget need not back out of giving a promise ring, as there are also inexpensive promise rings available. However, the most important rule in giving a promise ring is to be clear about the terms of the promise; this clarity will avoid heartbreaks due to a person reading more than intended in the ring, especially if the ring contains a diamond. To avoid complications, a simple note accompanying the ring should be sufficient.
